Cook Compression Opens Ring and Packing Case Facility in Ellesmere Port, England

Cook Compression has announced the opening of a new compressor ring and packing facility in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire (UK). The plant is now fully operational, manufacturing complete packing case assemblies, rod rings and cylinder rings.

The new 10,000 sq ft (1,000 sq m) facility manufactures sealing products for Cook customers in Europe and the Middle East. It also provides accommodations for Cook’s rapidly expanding valve reconditioning and packing case repair services. Located adjacent to an existing Cook Compression valve manufacturing unit, the Ring and Packing Case operation gains efficiencies in shared capabilities and infrastructure.

Engineering Resources

The operation incorporates the latest engineering processes and technology from Cook manufacturing locations in the United States. Lean manufacturing techniques and 5S standards were also implemented from the outset.

According to Dean Lewis, Managing Director of Cook Compression European Operations, “We planned and equipped our new facility to leverage Cook’s extensive engineering resources and century-plus experience in gas compression. At the same time, we augmented our Technical Sales group, providing additional ring and packing expertise. As a result, we have created an operation that is second-to-none in terms of manufacturing capabilities, internal sales and engineering support, and external sales experience. Our goal is to continually improve the services we offer and introduce new technologies that will increase compressor reliability and run times.”

Boocock Named Director

In a related development, Cook Compression announced the appointment of Barry Boocock as Director of the recently opened Ring and Packing Case facility in Ellesmere Port. Boocock has more than 28 years of experience in ring/packing design and manufacturing.
