Engineering Manager, Odessa, TX

DESCRIPTION:

Cook Compression currently has an opening for an Engineering Manager for their Services Group.  This position would be based in the Odessa, TX facility. The Engineering Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Services Engineering department, including reducing job cycle times, reducing warranty costs, improving engineering coordination with other regions, crosstraining, writing engineering standards and meeting customer requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor's of Science in Engineering with management experience in the gas compression/refining industry.
  • Knowledge of reciprocating compressions and their components, especially as it relates to repair and operation.
  • The ability to communicate with customers, supervisors, employees, and executive level management
  • The ability to promote a positive atmosphere in the workplace

The Engineering Manager will:

  • Possess strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Have strong negotiation skills 
  • Be available for travel less than 10%
  • Be able to work and communicate with other Service Center Managers
  • Work to develop the Cook lean system in the engineering department and reduce the 7 wastes
  • Be a technical resource for the sales force
  • Oversee compressor rod, compressor piston, cylinder liner, and OEM valve design activities

Accounting Manager

DESCRIPTION:

Based in Stafford, Texas and reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading accounting, control and financial reporting at this location. The successful candidate will lead the efforts of two Accounting direct reports. As a member of the local management team, this person will effectively interact and communicate with the Executive Management of Cook Compression and its related business unit operation and financial personnel in an effort to increase shareholder value through the attainment of operational and financial goals.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to:

 

·         Support the Stafford Management Team in driving the organization to achieve objectives

·         Ensure accurate, timely, and regulatory compliant financial reporting, including the effective management review of operating results (and variances)

·         Analytically review operating unit monthly financial statements to identify trends in performance against forecasts and budgets

·         Continue efforts in the development and implementation of procedures and documentation to support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Rule 404

·         Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes in cooperation with management team members, paying particular attention to maintaining discipline through all stages of the business cycle

·         Continue the development and institutionalization of strong financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems

·         Participate in optimizing business unit earning power and cash flow through the identification and capture of cost reduction and operational efficiency improvement opportunities

·         Recruit, train and develop qualified personnel to ensure current and future leadership of the financial and accounting function

·         Manage the delegation of authority and control guidelines and policies, including appropriate approval limits, risk policies and compliance reviews

·         Ensure the business unit complies with the comprehensive business conduct INTEGRITYCOUNTS program inclusive of strong corporate ethics guidelines and related policies, procedures, and controls

·         Support the company?s audit activities.

·         Conduct effective, proactive communications with executive management

 

LOCATION:

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate should have minimum of 5 years? experience, unquestionable integrity and a positive reputation. Early experience with a major public accounting firm with appropriate corporate financial leadership is desired. Candidates must display the ability to interact effectively with peer managers and company executive management. The Accounting Manager should be well grounded in all aspects of the financial function, accounting, cost accounting and cash management.  Candidate credentials will include an undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, or other applicable curriculum. Appropriate certifications, such as a CPA or CMA, combined with an MBA or other advanced degree is preferred. Personal qualifications will include:

·         Integrity, credibility and character with demonstrated moral and ethical behavior

·         A leader who will engage others through his/her excitement about the business

·         A hands-on, detail-oriented professional with excellent analytical, planning, evaluation, modeling and implementation skills

·         Expertise in GAAP

·         Knowledge of Syteline or comparable ERP systems

Field Mechanic

DESCRIPTION:

Cook Mechanical Field Services currently has openings for Field Mechanics. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with at least 5 years experience in the in the petrochemical and refinery industries repairing and overhauling rotating equipment such as reciprocating compressors, pumps, and turbines.

Cook Mechanical Field Services, division of Cook Compression, provides on-site maintenance, repair, and complete overhaul services for compressors, pumps, turbines, and other reciprocating and rotating equipment. Cook MFS handles all sizes and designs of machinery. We overhaul and repair simple air compressors, as well as gas compressors with discharge pressures up to 6,000 psi. Cook MFS works on small process pumps, lift pumps, cooling tower pumps, and large boiler feed pumps and have repaired turbines from 30 hp to 50,000 hp.

Cook Mechanical Field Services is proud to do this work safely, with over 500,000 hours worked without a lost time accident!

LOCATION:

Mechanics travel 90% of the time, but would be based out of Van Vleck, Odessa, or Tyler, Texas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least 5 years experience in the in the petrochemical and refinery industries repairing and overhauling rotating equipment such as reciprocating compressors, pumps, and turbines
  • Must be able to read micrometers, both inside and outside, and be committed to working safely
